The word "Eat!" is always thrown at me by all my friends, work colleagues and father. I admit in some pictures I look like a bit of a human beansprout, but I'm not anorexic! The BMI index shows me right in the middle of the "Ideal weight range". I do some running and cycling, I normally eat healthy food but do enjoy my beer and late night kebabs too. Dad says he had the same "mindset" when he was my age (29) and I'll get out of it . But is being thin such a crime?

If you're healthy then don't listen to them. They probably have weight issues about carrying too much weight and are just taking it out on you.

Just to be picky, if you're over 6 foot the "ideal weight range" is about 2 points lower than it should be. Though unless you've got the biggest bone structure ever you sound like you're in the healthy weight range.

What "mindset" does he mean? TBH you sound fine. FFS I'm nearly 23 stone and some women try to tell me I'm not fat. And they keep a straight face too. :pac: Don't listen to people. :)

    :pac:

If you're healthy, but look a bit skinny why not try doing some weights and just bulking up a bit?

Ignore those judgmental people. Your fit and healthy, that is nothing to be ashamed of.
If that doesn't work, steal their pants and run!
    They'll soon see the benefits!

I think people do this because they fell that they can get away with it.Very few people would tell a fat person that they need to lose weight.

You're probably just genetically skinny. Due to the diet culture we live in criticizing someone for being skinny is half complimenting them at the same time so it doesn't feel like you're insulting them when you say it.

    I feel the same.
I am 6 feet tall and have weighed 12 stone (give or take a pound or two) for the last 6 years. This is smack bang in the middle of the BMI chart. My Bodyfat is also between 7-10%. My waste is 30 inches. I use a myotape to monitor it every weekend.

I used to weigh 15 stone 2 lbs and consider losing the weight one of my greatest accomplishments. It's easier than some would have you think. Simply learn about nutrition. Energy in - Energy Out etc etc. My own family

I only had a conversation with a friend at the weekend, that I must have been put in the "Fat" carriage on the train home last weekend. Everyone that I saw was overweight. He said that in future people who are actually at a healthy weight will become a rarity and will be considered skinny by their heavier peers. I agree.

This is a sad state of affairs indeed, my own family said I could do with putting on weight but although they mean well, I don't agree that more adipose tissue will make me more socially acceptable

It might be worth keeping a food diary for a few weeks just to see how much you actually do eat.

From reading a few fitness forums there seems to be a lot of people who think they eat more then they do and it only becomes clear after seeing it all down in a diary.

It's like that show that used to be on where they would show fat people just how much they were eating and they were always shocked because in their head they didn't think it was that much.

I was underweight and used to skip meals like anything lunch especially and breakfast and I literally would not get hungry.

I just didnt enjoy food and my attitude to it was fairly wrong. Eating with other people makes a difference and having something like brioche or chocolate handy if you miss breakfast is ok.A fruit bowl with grapes and stuff you like is great by the telly.
