There is a constant reference to the "Community Welfare Officer"

It is who people turn to when the standard system of Benefits/Allowances is taking too long, or is in some way insufficient, and that has always been the way.

But now that the standard system is under constant pressure, where delays are the rule and not the execption, are too many people turning to the CWO? Is the CWO also at cracking point?

Without a doubt!!! And yet, despite all the pressure they are under it has been my pleasure to have dealt with my local CWO. She ALWAYS stays on at the local clinic way past the alloted 1.5 hours. And as the queue of people keep extending as more and more problems arise for those of us reliant on benefit, she ends up staying later. TG for the CWO's :)
