I mentioned this film a few months back, and now that it is getting close to release time in Ireland, I am popping it up again.Besides the fact it has viking in it, two things drew me to the film. The director and the main actor.

Nicolas Winding Refn and the excellent Mads Mikkelsen ( He will also be popping up in Clash Of The Titans next month) are what drew me to it.

Think the 13th Warrior if it was made by a hybrid of Kurosawa, Bergman, and Tarkovsky.

The eye for detail is amazing throughout, and the deep focus look immerses you in the world of the film. Those who are squeamish may not appeciate the detail in some scenes though. ;)

Am looking forward to seeing it on a big screen.

Another film I am looking forward to next month is Centurion by Neil Marshall.

I am hoping that this film is a return to the quality of films like Dog Soldiers and The Descent, although I did enjoy Doomsday.
