I was just reading an old thread in the A&P forum where someone asked the question..... If people keep ducks, it's usually for laying right? So why do wild ducks not lay every day?

It may seem like a very silly question. :o

Because no one keeps taking the eggs away and when they have a clutch they stop.
If the eggs are naturally taken, they will start again.

Also domestic ducks are usually fed and can sustain the daily ritual.
