    hey all,
just finished the fe1's, traineeship in the pipe line. just a bit apprehensive of whats to come over next two years. are the ppc's much more difficult than the fe1s? and is it better to do your 4months traineeship first or wait till after ppc's?

    all replies appreciated,
    thanks a mil.

    They're open book so that's a start.

Not too bad - some are worse than others but the pass rate is 90 to 97 per cent so very few people fail.

Do work in the office prior to PPC I if you can as you get up to 4 months credit towards your in-office time, but more importantly, the PPC's are meant to be a practical course, so anything you've learned in-office would be of a help in the course.

Also, academically, the FE-1's are much harder, mainly because as has already been mentioned, the PPC exams are open book.

I thought they were easy enough. Definitely easiest exams I had done in years.

this isn't true! i was on ppc1 last year and am due to start ppc2 next month. on the ppc1 course the year before me, over 30% of people failed conveyancing and around the same amount failed overall, in my tutorial group plenty failed individual exams and the practical stuff,
the exams are far trickier than people make out, while they're not in the same league as the fe1s they're not a walk in the park either.
they are open book but i didn't really find that a massive help, you've alot to get through in the exams and you simply dont have time to be flicking through the manuals looking for the answers, you have to either know the stuff very well or know exactly where it is in the manual,
having said that if you got through the fe1s ok and put a reasonable amount of effort, study and preparation in you'll be fine. i wouldnt be getting stressed out about it!
