Name on passport doesn't match ticket

Booked a flight this morning for our holidays to spain in september

My father is called alfie but has his official name down as 'patrick alphonsus' on passport.
Booked the flight under alfie and now im worried they wont let him fly. Looked into a name change and f*****g ryanair want €100

Will he be ok to fly under this reservation do ye think?

Give them a ring. If you get the right person they will change it no bother. There are loads of threads about this. Im my opinion you will definitely be pulled up on this as its not just a letter missing or a misspelling.

There's a facility in the passport application process for a person's 'everyday' name to be noted as different from their 'birth certificate' name.

I don't know if it can be amended on a current passport or if it would require a new application, but at least you have until September to go this route if you want, industrial action in the Passport Office notwithstanding.

They won't let him fly to Spain unless it matches the passport, name change or rebook whichever is cheapest.
