During a fire drill at a middle school in Worcester, England, students aged 10 to 13 looked on in horror as "as a man appeared brandishing a gun and appeared to shoot dead Mr. Kent, their science teacher, as he ran across a field." It was only ten minutes after the shooting that teachers revealed the whole thing to be fake. The exercise was apparently "intended to teach Year 8 pupils how to investigate, collect facts and analyse evidence." They couldn't have just pretended to lose the class rabbit, or something?

Jesus, that's a bit extreme. There'll be a hell of a lot of backlash from parents I'd imagine.

That could really mess up the kids alright. Imagine the shock of seeing it? Even if you're told it's fake afterwards.

When I was 13 there were quite a few teachers I would have liked to have seen shot.:P

Only joking, I can't believe that a group of so-called responsible adults thought this was a good learning experience for the kids.

That could have been one of the best school lessons if they told the kids.

agreed. Even kids think the whole loosing the rabbit or the mystery of the missing coat is lame.

they should do more lessons like this in school but inform the parents, students etc. sitting a class for 7 hours a day is crap they could do loads of good things that would be a good benefit

learn to drive/ change tyres in secondary school that would be good craic.
learn how to put out small fires and fire safety.
learn some self defense in P.E. and swimming lessons

First Aid has more merit as a core subject than any of the current ones.
