Looking for some advice (what's new)....

Currently running a 3 ring crankset (FSA Vero 30-39-50) with Shimano Tiagra 27 speed shifters.
Now, i'm considering upgrading the cranks to possibly either Dura-Ace or Ultegra twin ring.... on doing this will i need to also upgrade the shifters?
    I'm running a 9 ring Shimano HG50 (12-25) cassette.

Would really appreciate any inputs you can give me on this....

what bike is it on dura ace or ultegra may not be worth it if its not an expensive bike youll have to change the front derailerur to a two speed. you may also have to change the big ring shifter (triple atm) to a double but i think you might get away with it

You will need cranks, probably a front derailleur, maybe some shifters (I have used current model Tiagra triple as a double but the older 4400 model I don't think works). If it is the older Tiagra with the Octalink BB then you probably need a new BB too.

This is rarely if ever worth the hassle and cost.

I know some people question the wisdom of upgrading individual parts, but I think if you want to do it, go ahead. However, putting a Dura Ace chainset with Tiagra does seem like overkill.

Your old chainset looks like it uses a square taper bottom bracket. So you'll need a new bottom bracket as well as a chainset. I'd imagine your front deraileur will work ok, but it might look a bit funny. The shifters should be OK.

The pdf that lumen linked to is useful, but Shimano tend to be much more restrictive about combining parts from different groupsets than is really needed. For example, Shimano are suggesting that you can't use 10 speed chainsets with otherwise 9 speed drivetrains, but most users say this combination works fine.

Sheldon probably has some useful information.

I'd forgot that you'll also probably want to change the rear deraileur. You should have a long arm deraileur now, but you'll want a short arm one with a double chainset.

What you have to change is mounting, so you'll have to decide how much you really want a new chainset...
