Does business insurance cover shutter damage?

I hope this is the right forum.....

Just a question...a shutter in work got damaged accidentally...basically it came off the tracks when coming down and we barely got it back up (after 2 hours). Its completely mangled at the sides, I would say about half of the shutter is a mess. So, I am wondering would insurance cover the replacement? I am not too sure what type of cover the business has as I only work there, but am just interested. Im sure it will cost about €2000 to replace. Its about 12 feet wide and 10 feet high, so not too big.

Its quite possible the original manufacturer / installer could repair it.

Insurance would cover accidental damage, but likely not a bad installation or wear and tear.

you should be fine, i claimed a few years ago for a front door shutter, staff lowered it without realising their was something obstructing it and the shutter recoiled upwards into the ceiling and burst the tiles etc. Claim was about 2500 and they paid out no problems

Should the insurance company be informed before any repair is done?

Yes, most definitely. Call them first thing Monday morning. You still don't have to claim even if you do report it.
