At €30 its quite reasonable but Im afraid trying to control a full computer screen using an iphone might be difficult. has anyone used this before and if so how good is it?

I provide quite a bit of remote support so this could be a godsend when on the road

Is your iphone jailbroken? Mostly I'd be looking at a nice terminal for remote control and / or VNC before I consider shelling out for a paid app. Can't see the ol' iPhone being too great for remote desktop control tbh.

Why not go for TeamViewer instead?

    http://teamviewer.com/download/iphone.aspx

EDIT: Commercial version is $99.. but free version will probably be sufficient - unless your iPhone is audited! ;)

I don't use log me in, but I do have VNC set up on my own laptop so I assume it would be a similar interface. Certainly not the nicest way to control a computer but very handy to get you out of a jam if you're stuck somewhere. I have also gotten reasonable (not fast) response over 3G and Edge.

But as the OP said, it's remote support which means he'd need to ensure his clients have either a static IP or ensure their router is using dynamic DNS.

Not with logmein. You can either use the free version which you can pre-install a small piece of software on the clients PC's or the rescue version where you generate a pin and they go to a website and you connect that way.

Edit: Just realised you were talking about the VNC suggestion, Nevermind.

No it's not jailbroken. Apparently the logmein ignition for iphone has "useful buttons for navigating the computer screen" Just hoping to get real users feedback on this.

Aye teamviewer is an alternative but I have found it not to be as reliable as good old logmein. Have you tried this on iphone? If so whats your experience?

Aye logmein and teamviewer makes remote support easy so VNC is out of the question.

Nothingman, i believe that is what basquille was implying

i.e VNC is not an option as static IP, port forwarding etc is required
    Teamviewer, logmein are a possibility

Wasn't recommending VNC just saying what it was like to remote a PC on an iPhone. As I said, usable but not very nice.

    It works reasonably.

You wouldn't be doing much work with it, but it's handy enough when you're stuck.

Do you have any more specific questions?

    I use logmein Ignition .
The only restrictions are the iPhone screen size , there is a great zoom facility but the physical screen size is still a restriction , no fault to logmein , apart from that its a really useful tool .
You can do all the functions as if sitting in front of your desktop.
Its does get a bit of getting used to (eg) You dont move a mouse pointer to a point , you move the screen to a point .
The mouse pointer is fixed , you move the screen around to this fixed point and double click(tap) .
Other actions are done by different finger swipes etc , clear instructions are given . Once you master these you will find it good .

It got me out of a hole one night when i was on a Stags in Westport ....
Got a Tech call , opened up logmein on my iPhone (half pissed ) logged into a clients P.C and remapped some devices .
All from the comfort of the Hotel Lobby , as the madness went on around me .

I dont use it on a daily basis as I am near a P.C , but its a good bit of kit as backup to have in my pocket .

    M

I know this is more to do with network speed but how fast is it to respond?

I'd imagine I'd only use it when stuck and solving something simple for someone so quick settings changes is all I'd be doing.

I think I'll give it a go. Cheers.

You can change this so you move the pointer instead of the screen - works much better imo.

Sounds like it takes a bit of getting used to.

I can see myself being in a situation similiar to yourself and having to sort a client out on the spot. Feck it im sold.

Yeah, I was referring to VNC earlier.

I'd say give the free version of TeamViewer a shot. Haven't tried it myself but at least they offer a free version unless LogMeIn.

Aye teamviewer is excellent for quick connection to a computer that you havent had access to before. Run a simple exe, swap ID and password and away you go!

is this the same as "Air Mouse". I use this and it does me perfectly for the Pc to watch fillums and play the music. If not then just ignore me :o

I've been using Mocha VNC for ages now - €4.99, there's a lite version too. On the whole find iI t very good - haven't managed dragging yet though. You need to install a VNC program on your PC/Mac - I use tightVNC. I have a dynamic IP address so just usea free dynDNS account (supported by my Netgear router). Encryption afaik is not supported - I use a very secure password though and don't use it with my main PC. Haven't tried iTeleport Jadu VNC - gets good reviews and supports encryption but costs €20. Didn't like teamviewer at all.-

Sounds good but still not suitable for supporting 60+ users since routing is an issue

Has anyone got logmein working over 3G on vodafone? Mine works fine on wifi but not on 3G.
