    Hi,

Last Friday I was out cycling and going straight on when a woman pulled out into my line of traffic from a junction and knowcked me off my bike. I banged my face on the ground suffering bruising and cuts to my face and a small cut on my lip aswell as scrapes to my hands and knees and I was a little concussed. The woman accepted liability for the accident and she was taking her 2 kids to school at the time. She drove me up to the local GP where I was given an examination and told to rest up and apply savlon or dettol to the scrapes. The woman who hit me told the receptionist on the way out that she had no money on her but would drop back later and cover the gp bills which the recptionist agreed upon. Unfortunately because I was so shook up I did not take full details of insurance her full name and address etc. I only got her first name. She dropped me back to a house beside the scne off the accident to get my bike which I left their while I went to the gP and when I was getting my bike she drove off. She never went back to pay the gp fee. For the first few days following the accident I had a bad bruise on my eye and face aswell, which at the moment are getitng bettre. I was also dizzy for the first few days and suffering from Nausea. I am feeling better each day that passes. I understand I should have got her reg plate or insurance details etc but I was pretty shocked from the incident and was not in the right state of mind to do this. I presume I have no course of action to follow due to only getting her first name.

Sorry 2 tell ya but it sounds like you can't do anything about it. Keep an eye out for. You should also go to the guards about it and report the incident. A description of the women make of the car etc. They might be able to track her down with the smallest of information

Thanks for the reply. I rang the guards and they said they can't really do anything about it becasue they have no lead i.e reg plate. I asked about cctv and unfortuantely I was informed by the guard that there is none outside the GP I attended. I was hoping that when the women who knowcked me down said she would pay cover the fee later that day was know by the receptionist i.e she was a patient their and the receptionist knew who she was which is not case also. I suppose I will recive a bill i the post to cover the GP. It just goes to show how evil some poeple are:mad:

Report this to the Gardai formally for the record.

Go back to the GP and ask for details of the woman as they may have kept them. Check this yourself. Do not rely on the Gardai to do it.

All is not lost if you wish to pursue a claim for damages.

You should also contact the Personal Injuries Assessment Board. See www.injuriesboard.ie/eng/

I do not know the technicalities involved but you may also have to make a claim against the Motor Insurers' Bureau of ireland (MIBI) if the offending vehicle and driver are unidentified. See www.mibi.ie

You will probably need to consult a solicitor if you have to deal with the MIBI as they have technical procedural requirements to be met in order to make a claim against them.

Do not hang around as there are time limits applicable to these various procedures.

Can you remember what uniform the kids were wearing?
You could wait outside the school and see if you recognise her/the car

Go to your local garda station and report the incident in person. They are obliged to take a report from you.

chances are she takes that route to school every morning. i would go there and wait every morning for a few weeks for a half hour window to spot her. That really annoys me.

You will find her this way. she may avoid that route for a few days but she will eventualy return to it.

    Get the reg and report!

If this persists, go back to your doctor.
