Casual Water

Two quick questions about casual water.

Ball lying in casual water, you get a free drop etc, but are you entitled to clean the ball before dropping it?

Also, Say I land in casual water and am going to putt, i assume that even if there is casual water infront of the nearest point of relief I have to drop it there? And in this instance can I decide to play it as it lies?

    Thanks
    Regards
    Ian

in fact yes to all 3 questions.

The thing to remember about nearest point of relief is that it is exactly that - nearest. Not as most golfers interpret it as nicest point of relief. This means that as our friend Ian James P found out recently that if your nearest point of relief is in the middle of a gorse bush for example then tough luck. you get the nearest point that gives you relief from the condition + 1 club length.
