    Hi all,

I need a bit of help

I am currently applying for a masters in accountancy in WIT and need to add a personal statement as to why I want to do this course. As there is a lot of competition for the places on the course, I would like my statement to stand out from the rest.

Some reasons I want to do this course include that

    - it gives full exemptions from cap 2
    - i genuinely think it would better me for the future
    - i think this is a good time to further my education (i.e. while I am still in education

but after that I am stumped lol

all help would be much appreciated!!!
    thanks a mil

Go into the modules you will be studying in the course and mention them, show which ones interest you in particular, even any lecturer you might have and something they may have published. This shows you have researched the course well.

Talk about what you wish to do in your future career, how this masters will help you (not just exemptions but mention what you learn and how you can apply that in practice).

Why you chose WIT over other colleges.

A paragraph about your experiences so far, such as undergrad and also relevant work exp. You can also include interests outside of college, especially if you can link those to the course, eg team work / organisational skills etc

Most importantly, ask several of your friends / family to read it before you submit, whatever you do don't submit without anyone else reading it, it might sound great to you but crap to everyone else

Can you get a reference from the college you are in? That might also help. Very good advice above.

PS Be prepared for 9 months of very hard and demanding individual and group project work. 11/12 subjects in all. If you need anymore info feel free to PM me.

im doing my masters at the moment out there... doing marketing tho, i wouldnt worry about it at all, if your on a 2.1 or upwards its automatic entry!! and look, they're not gonna turn away anyone...after all its 7k for the college to have you there! Dont worry about the application form at all! But it's well worth doing the masters, tough - but im having the year of my life!

I found www.thestudentroom.com to be good help in getting an idea of how to start and what to include.

I'd second that. Tough so be prepared to do a lot of work (From the end of September onwards you can be sure at least one project will be due each week) but it's actually great craic.

    Hi,

I have just finished the MBS in Accounting at WIT, struggling at the moment to get motivated and get stuck into the thesis. As it was said before, don't worry too much about the application, they hardly turn you down as long as long as you have 2:1 degree (the class size suppose to be no more than 17 we were told, this year had 32 students)

A bit off subject here. If you need any other info or materials when you start the course give me a shout; I'm doing major clean up at the moment but will keep the exam papers, notes, articles etc if needed.

    Good luck***
