How to warn others about fake tradesmen?

Is there any way of letting people know that a particular group of workmen are frauds and completely incompetent? I know it's not possible through boards.ie, but is there anywhere else I can go? We were entirely stupid about hiring these people in the first place but it was for a very minor piece of work (non-structural) and we could not have envisaged the disaster it would become. We are currently going down the legal route (fake insurance certs, fraudulently presenting themselves as part of a local well-respected company, damages) and the gardaí have been informed but have no interest and have told us its a private matter between us and the workers. We would like to warn others against using them in the meantime as they are still taking on jobs in the area. Other than word of mouth or driving about looking for their vans and warning folks in person, any ideas?

I had seen that thread. I certainly don't want to leave myself open to libel/slander charges. And naturally, this particular crew don't feature on pickapro.ie...

I guess I could take photos of their 'work' and post it on a blog with just their name beside it - I wouldn't have to say anything negative, the photos would scare anyone off.

Or how about sticking a big poster in the front garden with their names on it saying "These bastards destroyed my house"

We'll come and visit you in "the joy" :D

Seriously though, leave it to the legal people and if you can get them (builders) prosecuted and the case reported in the local press then Im sure you would be happier.

    That bad.

Guess I'll just have to stew until we get it done through legal channels. I feel sorry for anyone else that gets done like we did - these guys are gangsters of the lowest order.
