Anyone have any thoughts on whether the HRV unit should go in the attic (which could be dusty) or in a walk in wardobe (possibly causing noise issues)

Mine is in the attic, dust would not affect the unit as the unit itself is sealed.

Definately the wardrobe or better still utility . Those filters must be inspected at least every 3 months cleaned at least every 6 months and replaced at least every 12 . Best will in the world - you won't do it if the unit is out of site out of mind .

The units make only a gentle humming noise at most . It definatley should not bother you in a utility .... but at 3am , struggling to fall asleep it may bug you then .

Also bear in mind it is a heat recovery unit - inherently performing better if located within the heated space
