It happen to me when a certain person hacked into my email account, i think that person knows me which i dont know him/her and used my security question to hacked into my yahoo account.. so all my personal detail/information was stolen and some other personal stuff information which is being used now to harrass me and my other contacts saved to that account using that the same yahoo email account and pm's to yahoo messenger..

so i called yahoo customer care by phone for this matter.. as i know that the person knew already my security question, i asked yahoo if they can change my security questions, they said they can but it is only temporary meaning they can change the security question but it will still go back to the original security questions once u click forgot password again. so i ask how will you protect me from this person from hacking into my account and stopped people from ruining me and my friends.. yahoo said they cannot stopped that person once he knows my original security questions because even if they change that security question it will still go back to its original security questions.. its too ridiculous how yahoo is managing this security protection like this..

for this matter i have to change completely all subscription using that email account including paypal..

and i dont know if somebody out there can advice me on what to do how can i stop that person using that yahoo email and yahoo messenger account..

    thanks..

Do they need your DOB to change your password ?

If they do you could change it.

many times i changed my password and i asked them as well to change the password.. but the person that hacked me knows my security questions so he can still reset the password.. that is why i asked why yahoo cannot provide a proper security questions which will not reset back to its original security questions..

if you can change the answer to the security question change it to something ridiculous that only you know. or set up a new yahoo email account and forward on your new email address to your friends and forward on everything to your new email account.

i did that as well changing the security questions and answers.. but once you click forgot password and or my email is compromised there is a linked below that page which tells this is not my security questions.. and if you click that link it will always go back to the original questions again with same original answer..

and i ask yahoo why is that? they answered, that is how their website works.. so meaning once the person knows my original question there is no way i can stop that person.

that is also what i did telling every people on my contacts to ignore every email or pms from messenger but what im worried about is if he use that email account ruining every peoples lives which details is on me..

Contact Yahoo Customer Service and ask if they can close your "hacked" account. Create a new account (with a different security question) and inform your contacts (both email and messenger) that you've changed your account. That's the best I'd know!

Yahoo might have some records of IP Addresses logining with your account, ask them about that.

    Hope this helps!

I periodically dump my yahoo account and create a new one. When I do, I give a nonsense answer to a security question (something that doesn't remotely relate to the question asked).

called yahoo by phone but they said they cant closed the hacked account, if i have to do it (since i can still open that email account witht the old security questions) the person who hacked it can reactivate again.. now he is using this account now on facebook, friendster etc etc showing my pictures and some pictures saved on that email account..

i have informed my contacts to ignore any invitations from facebook, friendster etc etc.. but some would accidentally add it and even would chat with it..

as of now my only concern now is to yahoo to act straight away my concern before to close or terminate or block my hacked email account before it goes any further of frauding people with my details but into vain yahoo cant do anything as they told me..
