office reloading problems

    Hello all, I have been trying to reload office on my laptop after i had the hard drive replaced. the problem is it keeps telling me that the product key is invalid? anyone have any idea. i did purchase from dell over 15months ago.

    I guess the issue is that office now 'thinks' you are trying to install it in a new machine. I mean, you've replaced the entire hard-disk which (in the eyes of Office) is enough to imply that you're bought an entire new machine. Get in contact with Dell to sort it out.

    If you're in an office, are you sure that you are using the exact CD/DVD of office that came with the machine?
    There are retail versions, various OEM manufacturer restricted versions, versions which have added extras like publisher. And all use incompatible keys.

    Swapping hard drives has never been enough to block an office install that I've found. It might, since office 2003, if done too frequently, cause issues at activation time.

    Failing that, make sure that those 8s aren't Bs. The font on the license sticker isn't the clearest.

    don t worry about it that sound like something i would do, but this time i got the right no. still no good. Cant believe Microsoft are looking to charge me for this
