It's not the first time they've sold Variax kits to other guitar makers e.g. Parker put one in their Adrian Belew Signature model. There used to be a Variax Bass, which sounded great, but I thought the hardware was horrid. Shaped like a P-bass without a pickup, neck like a railroad sleeper that kept trying to dive - wonder why it didn't sell? If I could pick one up cheap, I might extract the circuit and put it in a decent cheap 6-string bass.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

Also gotta agree about the bass sounding lovely. I didnt think it felt TOO bad. If i could pick one up for 450 - 500 I would. A lot of very usable sounds from it.
