Hi, I had a camera ( fuji finepix z30) which had loads of great photos on it. Memory card is a fujifilm 2g sd. Think I may have accidentally formatted them or scrubbed them as now I can only access the photos on camera as thumbnails.

Can anyone point me to a solution or camera shop where they might have a go?

    Thanks

You need to get a recovery software, obviously you have stopped using that precious memory card.

There are probably tons of different companies that provide the software, and maybe even some freeware ones, heres one

    http://www.imagerecall.com/

And Im sure youll find a lot to choose from when you do a search, best of luck with it all.

Not sure if this is of any help but I had a similar problem recently with a Canon 400D which uses CF cards. It was happening intermittently with all my cards. It turned out the card contact pins in the camera needed to be cleaned.

thanks. downloaded and tried a trial version of Imagerecall (dont panic) there but no joy. trying to help the wife out with this and she now tells me that she had previously brought this into a shop for them to look at. They claimed that there were only thumbnails on the sd card, so transferred them to a cd for her and wiped the sd card.
Do you reckon they are now gone or would there still be a chance of finding the originals on the assumed 'wiped' sd card?

    thanks

unless they did a 'bleach' the data should be still there, although some files could be damaged beyond use. PC inspector is free and worked for me on a card that was formatted in another camera. it recovery all the photos. it can be slow, but otherwise you'd need professional software like get data back. ideally you'd take an image of the card and work from that on the PC rather than trying to access the card all the time.

    http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec worked well for me.
