    Moved to Laptops, pretty sure you'll be far more likely to get info on laptop disassembly here!

    EDIT: Lookie here! :D Once you uncover and remove the screws you have to carefully "snap" off the bezel, as its still held on by concealed catches!

    Thanks for the link (-; that is the type of screen Im used to..the Roma screen hinges are located lower down and kind of behind main laptop body..bottom 2 screws very difficult to get at..I need to remove the hinges and therein lies the problem, all screws out plus removable components but nothing else will budge..neither top cover ar bottom of case! Tough one this (-; I just need to know where I can safely start prising apart..thanks

    Ah **** :o

    Can't even remember how I did one of those the last time (lots of laptops out now with recessed hinges!) except that it involved a two-man debate and a lot of cursing and swearing and praying to the Laptop Gods that I didn't snap some of the bodywork in two while trying to gauge which bits snapped off and which were screwed together. So many hidden screws! :(

    IIRC the trick is to close the laptop again and remove the battery to find the screws hidden around the back of the unit and even the battery compartment that hold the backs of the hinges together. The front part of the hinge assemblies are usually pinned in place with the topmost trim piece (which often has status LEDs and/or power/reset buttons) but getting that off is another matter... often its held in by a concealed screw or five that are hidden under the top edge of the keyboard, which also has hidden screws to find and remove! knockout.gif

    Thanks for reply Solitaire (-; All screws are off (except heatsink and cpu) power board bexel is off and keyboard is off, hard drive-cd drive-battery etc off also. I know it is more than likely held by clips and there must be a starting point to lever..but it is so tight that nothing is budging..It is a rebadged ECS I50IL1 laptop but I cant find service manual for that either..hopefully someone here will have come across it (-;

Currys crap..evertyhin upside down lol
    thanks for help Solitaire (-;

    Hi Guys, sorry to revive this thread after a few months but i'm currently trying to get the bezel off a Roma 3000 and having the exact same problem.

    I have the whole thing disassembled right down to taking the screen hinges off the main body but i still cant seem to separate the bottom/middle bit of the bezel.

    Is there some sort of arcane secret i'm missing?

    Thanks in advance for any help you can offer

    There is another screw under the heatsink or fan..I can't remember which one had secures both sides (-;

    Yeah, that bit i have done. The entire things in pieces at the moment and the screen is almost completely separated from the main bit (wires still attached).
    I have been trying and trying to get the screen bezel off but the bottom bit just wont budge and i'm really worried about applying more force.

    It is a bitch to get off but you just have to apply more force..once you are sure that there are no more hidden screws under any components then you just have to force it..worst screen replacement job I've come across!!

    Just Brute force eh? well i will give it a go and hope like hell the thing doesn't snap. And yeah i agree, its a complete nightmare, hard to believe they would build it like that deliberately.

    Really appreciate the help.

    Agreed. This laptop is a nightmare to work on :mad:

    The rounded part of the bezel seemed to pull off better by pinching/squeezing it and then pulling it off. There are 3 more screws under there to remove in order to remove the screen surround.

    Hope this helps
