Will it matter once it gets dirty? Is it for a singlespeed/fixie?

I use the KMC ones on my singlespeed and find them pretty good. This one is 9 speed compatible if it's for a mountain bike.

Yes the gold ones go faster. Is it for XC or DH? You can't use the gold ones for DH.

Whats the difference between singlespeed chains and 9 speed chains? is the singlespeed/bmx chain type just shorter? Can you not buy 2 then, and join them where needed for extra length? And my bike only has 6 years (single crank at the front, 6 speed cassette at the back) so which kind of chain would I need? Dilemmas.. lol

9-speed chains are narrower and are designed to be used with derailleurs while singlespeed chains are not.

You can buy 6/7 speed chains which are not as narrow as 9-speed.
