Red Runner

This has most likely been done here already but anyway...

Been living in and around Dublin City for the last 10 weeks or so and the level of red light running by cars and cyclists is crazy. I've seen countless instances of it; a majority of people seem to think that orange = put the foot down and get through the lights as quick as you can. I can see someone being killed due to this because the ped crossing lights the far side of the road come on shortly after and it only takes an eager ped and a red light breaker and then we have trouble. Personally I've started to walk across roads on green ped lights and had to stop to let a car whizz by me. Had I not looked... to put it simply I'd have been fooked.

This is in addition to the number of drivers who seem to think that you don't have to stop until the red has been shown for at least 10 secs and just disregard the light. I know the Guards have been doing some good work down around Dame St/Westmoreland St regarding people using Bus Lanes in the rush hours but jaysus they'd clean up if they stayed down the quays for a day.

As for cyclists, I'm not too sure of the rules regarding them but they all seem to break red lights which doesn't seem right to me.

    /rant :o
