Hi, I recently purchased an item from the UK but it has not shown up. Tried to contact the seller on 3 occasions with emails but no reply. Filed a dispute and escalated to a claim. Seller has provided a tracking number which is only 6 characters long supposedly with Royal Mail. I cant find in the open case where to respond to Paypal, on the email from Paypal it says if they dont hear from me within 2 days they will review the case again, obviously they are going to see its a bogus tracking number but is there anyway I can contact them before the 2 days as I feel its wasted time?

I don't think so no. That's the system they have in place. Once the 2 days is up you will get your money back.
I'm sure you can wait two days :)

Yups the 2 days wont kill me :D but it pisses me off that the seller would send a bogus tracking number in the first place. Thanks for the reply :)

I've had bogus tracking numbers given by sellers on numerous occasions. Often, the tracking number will be real looking (RI123456789GB style), but not be valid for tracking on the website.

It's often the case that the seller is using non-recorded delivery, to save on costs, even though you paid for recorded. Most of the time, the item will turn up, and most people wouldn't raise a complaint about the postage being the wrong type.

The saving they make on using regular post far outweighs the cost of the odd lost package or dispute, for a larger seller anyway.

They are just buying themselves some time. For small items most sellers only use regular post so it cant be tracked.

Yeah the amount was only for £10.99 for the item and the shipping was £2.99, so I would say it was sent by normal mail. It was paid for on the 11th of March. I have bought a few items since from the UK and they have arrived.

Email complaint-response@paypal.com and mention that it's a fake tracking number and you want a refund asap.

2.99 wouoldnt cover registered post unless the item was really really light

The item was an electric whisk so there would have been a bit of weight in it. I was surprised with the lack of communication as the seller had a high feedback with 99% positive needless to say still no communication directly with me as he just supplied the fake tracking to paypal.
