    Does it have to be valid for 6 months after return?

    Because we're honeymooning there in June, but I know the US is ok up until the day before it expires, but not sure about Canada.

    My fiance's passport expires in July, and don't want to be caught.

    Thanks:)

    A passport that's valid for your stay is all you need.

    Brilliant, thanks. Have you a source for this please?

    Because it says in our Royal Carribbean Alaskan Cruise booklet that it needs to be valid for 6 months after return.

    And I know for sure that the US is ok up until expiry

    I'd suggest you contact the Canadian Embassy. I travelled there a few years ago and was pulled to one side by immigration because my passport was within 6 months of expiry at the time. They kept me for 3 hours before they let me eventually through.

    Been trying for 2 days, they never answer the phone, and don't respond to emails either:(

    Were you ok getting on with your holiday? Was there any further problems?

    Entry requirements for Irish nationals: Irish nationals must hold a passport valid for the period of intended stay. A visa is not required for stays of up to six months.

    Irish citizens do not require a visa to enter Canada as a visitor, or on business, for a period not exceeding six months. You will require:

    1. A valid Irish passport;
    2. An airline ticket with return date indicated;
    3. Sufficient funds to support yourself for the duration of your visit.
