Removing Lead Tape From Fairway Wood

I picked up a 2nd hand Callaway fairway wood last week. It has a strip of lead tape on the toe, presumably to reduce a draw or to enhance a fade. Has anyone got any recommendations about removing it, short of acting the dog and taking something like a knife to it?
