Eircom upgrade woes. Anyone else experience this during upgrade?

    I was due to be upgraded this week and was left without a connection for 2-3 days. My router was synching at 17meg for these 2-3 days. With either a red internet light or no light at all (usually the latter). It came back this evening better than it ever was (ping/speed). But drops after 20mins on average (rough estimate).

    First the problem was I wasn't authing to eircom, now I am and its dropping.
    Did anyone else experience similar problems? I have phonewatch and the phone is filtered.

    Speed: 20122 kbps /765 kbps
    Line Attenuation (Down/Up): 13 dB /6 dB
    DSL Noise Margin: 6 dB /16 dB

    Table of dropped connection.

    25 03/24/2010 22:23:28 board 0 line 0 channel 0, call 575, C02 Call Terminated CALL DETAIL RECORD
    26 03/24/2010 22:23:28 ADSL down, possible reason: SEF(Severely Errored Frame)

    Edit: dammit look what I found.

    near-end FEC error fast: 0
    near-end FEC error interleaved: 52623
    near-end CRC error fast: 0
    near-end CRC error interleaved: 421
    near-end HEC error fast: 0
    near-end HEC error interleaved: 412
    far-end FEC error fast: 0
    far-end FEC error interleaved: 8
    far-end CRC error fast: 0
    far-end CRC error interleaved: 0
    far-end HEC error fast: 0
    far-end HEC error interleaved: 0

    How am I getting all these FEC's and CRC's? I thought the attenuation/noise were at good numbers... the lower the better, correct?

    Attenuation: Low -> good
    Noise _Margin_: Low -> bad

    I'll go plug it in on its own downstairs so. Im blaming the phonewatch! :P
    Well that didn't make a difference. I take it the only thing I can do is get them to lower the speed?

    Speed Downgraded today (26/03/10)
    Speed: 17404 kbps /765 kbps
    Line Attenuation (Down/Up): 14 dB /6 dB
    DSL Noise Margin: 11 dB /17 dB
    Ill know later if its working as normal now.

    Hi, your noise margin is a little on the low side so any interference at all could be affecting you. Suggest you call the tech guys on 1901 and ask them to test your line. If you have a line fault then fixing this could resolve your issues.

    Alternatively, it may simply be a case that your line is struggling to sync at the 20Mb profile. This may need to be stepped back to a lower profile (17Mb) to get a stable connection. The guys in the tech support centre should be able to guide you here ....

    Having a lot of trouble with Eircom broadband line too. Only seems to have started happening since a 2Mb>3Mb upgrade, and new Zyxel P-660HW-T1 v3 wireless N router went in at the same time. Getting disconnected 4-5 times every day.

    Your attentuation is pretty high which probably means that you are far from the exchange and our snr is pretty low which means that you will bet dropouts.

    Upgrading puts pressure on the snr.
