    OK, can nearly answer my own question.

    After a bit more digging I found NetMeter. Looks the business so far with far more options.

    Actually NetMeter had difficulty picking up my wireless adapter.

    So have gone for http://www.softperfect.com/products/networx/ which contains all the same features and is regularly updated.

    So far so good.
