Club delegates

Well my question is do club delegates to the county vote the way club tells them to?

I thought I would ask this question after the vote of confidence in Justin McCarthy last night. Do club Delegates vote the way the club tells them or do clubs leave it up to the delegate to vote the way they feel is the correct way? There have been numerous votes where the result has not been what people expected.

Anyways would be happy to hear other people thoughts on it. My own thought is that I reckon the club leave it up to the delegate.

Interesting question. This is how I see it should happen

The club delegate will put the upcoming vote the committee if the vote is known about far enough in advance. In cases where it is not possible to put it to the committee they will conduct a straw poll of as many committee members as they can. If as sometimes happens the vote is a spur of the moment event at a county meeting and they can't consult anyone it is their choice and the delegate should vote in the best interests of their club. If they don't it's the club's fault for electing someone who would do that into that position of power.

A lot of trust is imparted into the club delegate and it shouldn't be a personal decision and should ideally reflect the will of the club.

as a club delegate for a smaller club I have more often than not voted on my own personal view as opposed to the clubs... it would be rare enough an issue of the importance or size of what faced the limerick county board delegates not to be flagged in advance... in that instance I would follow clubs direction.... but monthly house keeping at board meetings generally isn't given in advance so my decision is more personal than that of the club... that said they may not be at variance its just I wouldn't have the opportunity to canvas clubs views...
