    Right folks,
I'm contemplating on going to New York for three months this Summer.I already got the J1-Visa the past 2 summers but this year im thinking of not applying. Could I go for under 90 days and work for a "cash in hand" job?

Wouldn't recommend it for living there for a short period of time.

If you are lucky enough to get cash in hand, the money will be poor and so you will have a very poor standard of living.

I was there for 4 months around the time of 9/11 and couldn't wait to get home. No life, no money, didn't even get to see the sights that most people would see on a weekend trip. Hadn't time from working long hours trying to pay rent.

Try maybe San Francisco or somewhere else small like that.
