(I'm surprised WWE never tried to sign this guy - His time with TNA seemed very short)

Great great choice for this week Liz, A legitimate Legend
Here's one of my favourite matches ever Liger vs Hayabusa in the first ever J-Cup.This particular match Hayabusa's debut match in Japan, he was still completing his training in Lucha Libre in Mexico at the time, but Liger still managed to make someone who was basically an unknown look phenomenal even in defeat

I love how threads like this (and the best matches thread for instance) in conjunction with the draft thread can actually educate the board about some of the great wrestlers from our time that maybe you cant see on Sky Sports and so the masses may often have not gotten exposed to.

Edit: added to hot links sticky

    Liger is great

He was never really with TNA, they just brought him in for a couple of special appearances. What's phenomenal about Liger is the way he's adapted his style, absolute legend. And yes, his entrance music is fantastically awesome.

I love Liger. As Machismo said the great thing about him is the way he has adapted his game as he has gotten older. In his day he was one of the greatest junior wresters and high flyersof all time. Nowadays hes kind of amodern ambassador for pro wrestling, travelling from company to company, putting the right people over and generally being unseflish with hs reputation for the good of the business.

I also happen to think that no one applies submission holds better than Liger. He has a way of puting on a hold that makes it look way more painful than anyone else does it, even a simple rest hold or headlock he always really cranks up on it. Its little things like that which seperate the greats from the merely good. Hes a brilliant heel as well. And his palmstrike is epic.

Love the cheesey theme music as well.

He looks like a power ranger. With the head of... a bady from the power rangers.

Im actually really really glad he never went to WWE, it seems to be some Wrestling fans ideology that going to WWE is the be all and end all of a wrestler's success.. And after what happened to Ultimo Dragon quite possibly the best cruiserweight of the 1990's(And a far better, more rounded wrestler than Mysterio in my humble opinion) in the WWE proves Liger made the correct career choice by never signing for WWE/F
