I'm currently in a level 8 course in UCD, but I'm considering dropping out and applying to do a fetac course in Montessori teaching or childcare.
Could anyone give me any information in any fees that I would have to pay in order to do this?
Also, I'm aware it will affect my grant as well, would I just not receive it for the amounts I have already received?

My advice to you would be to stick at your level 8 course untill you finish if its a possibility after that you can do a post grad in montessori in either the AMI or st nicholas for teaching 3-6 yr olds.
A friend did her post grad in saint nics at night and cost around 5 grand but according to their website its only a full time course so they may have changed it. both colleges are recognised by the dept of ed for teaching in primary school, both are fantastic courses.
If you wanted to leave the course you are in I would still recommened st nics or ami as again its recognised by the dept of ed plus st nics is a level 7 and 8.
I have a montessori dip from portobello college which consists of 6 fetac certs, even though its fetac its not recognised by the dept of ed so I can only work in private pre schools and creches. it cost around 3000 btw.
Just one thing to keep in mind, the new ecce scheme states that if you have a hetac level 7 or 8 in montessori or early childhood ed you will get the higher capitation grant of 75e per week whereas if you just had a dip from portobello or liberties college ect you would only get 65 per week. also afaik people who hold the ami qualification cannot enter the ecce scheme as its not hetac but I may be wrong.
also the st nicholas is the only montessori college that offeres degree programmes in montessori at the moment but portobello may be soon.

hope this helps and makes sense, ill hopefully be going to st nicholas next year!
montessori is such a messy thing at the moment with the new scheme starting and some diplomas not being recognised so i would advise anyone starting out to try to get as high a qualification as possible.
