Planning a trip with a friend of mine, I'm not a big one for travelling and we are booking very soon, which of these destinations should I go for?

Or any other suggestions, I'm 24 and would like a bit of night life, but I would tend towards the classier places rather than dives. We are going for 4 nights.

    Thoughts?

Given the information you have provided, I would say definitely go with Amsterdam.

Now, don't get me wrong, Prague is a great place. I am from Eastern Europe myself and if you check out my other posts on this forum, you will see I am the first one to sing the praises of Eastern European destinations. But fact is, the Eastern attitude and mentality are quite different from those in the West. People are much more upfront and direct in letting you know how they feel. You will not find any of the fake smiles and superficial friendliness in Prague. Especially in the better nightclubs that the Czechs themselves frequent (and hell, there are some great places like that in Prague...), they will make you feel very clearly how unwelcome you are.

For someone who is not well traveled and looking for a hassle-free experience, sticking to the West is a much safer bet. And Amsterdam is a very good choice. You will find plenty of dumps and cheap places there. But you will also find very classy clubs with excellent music. The Dutch are hugely into electronic music. Posh places would tend toward the house side of things. If you happen to like house, Amsterdam is the perfect match for you.

Definitely Amsterdam & Madrid or Berlin are other good options for what your looking for. Have to say i wasn't too impressed with Prague - bit seedy and very overrated in my opinion.

Booked for AmDam (my terribly attempt at a cool name for it), should be good fun, my mate knows a few places that are good as recommended and will go to see a few shows and clubs etc., have actually sprung for a four star hotel and all, wasn't much more than a two star so looking forward to it.

Thanks for warning about prague, I will hopefully see it someday anyway but right now I just want an easy place.

Good choice. You will find that the Dutch speak excellent English. Their chips are very tasty as are their million types of cheese.

Right on Damrak (the main street) you will find such unusual things as a sex museum. Amsterdam is a twisted place alright... in a good way :).
