Hey all, getting married end May, but no matter what razor I use, I'm stubbly midway throughout the day, and I won't be able to nip out for a shave before the first dance:D

Has anybody any good suggestions for closest shaves, ideas for a long lasting shave that'll do me for a quite important day:)

    Thanks in advance:)

(Must admit I don't believe I'm actually typing these words:D)

Shave with olive oil. I do it sometimes. It gives a nice clean shave and it won't nick you. Have a nice warm shower after to take away the slickness. Congratulations man. Have a great day.

What time you getting married? is there time to make an appointment with a barber for a straight shave?

If not try 4 passes instead of just 1, first pass with the grain, second pass across the grain (ear to nose), third pass across the grain (nose to ear), fourth pass against the grain....should keep you smooth for the day. i would start doing this for a few weeks beforehand to get your face used to that much razor contact.

Oil, cream or soap would be better for a shave like this than canned goo.

Sure since I'm a regular in this forum you just know what I'm going to suggest....DE Razor :D

Got married last year and shaved with DE I was pretty happy with the results for the day

Grow a beard... or just do a thorough shave with a good razor as late as possible before you leave.

I know you said you don't have time for a shave but can you make time for it? I shaved halfway through the day when I was a groomsman and it was a great idea as I had no stubble until midnight or so!

    Thanks all for the information.

I thought I'd get all suggestions of different razors and surprised I didn't:D

1pm. I absolutely hate the thought of a barber/professional shaving me instead of myself. Don't like the thought of it at all, is that weird?

Would one not be worried of being all red/puffed up after it?

Excuse my ignorance, what's a DE Razor? Thanks.

I actually registered on www.totalshave.com as I heard a radio add suggesting the best shave, and a free sample.

    Will report back with results:)

In the mean time, I'm using Gillette sensitive gel, with a Mac 4 Turbo razor/blade, bloody thing is blunt after 4/5 shaves:D

Well if you want more precise details...

    - DE razor: Merkur Progress or Merkur HD razor
    - Blade sampler pack, I'd recommend the Personna blades to start
    - Shaving brush
    - Proper shaving cream, try Proraso or Taylors to start.

As I'm not a morning person, I tend to shave very late at night.
No matter what combination of cartridge razors (Fusion/Mach3) and
canned gels I used in the past I'd have heavy regrowth the next day
around the early afternoon. Using a DE razor and products like I listed
above I can easily last until early evening now before I get the same
    regrowth level.

My advice would be to get used to using a DE razor now, dont wait until the
day/week before the wedding. Get used to shaving with then across
and then against the grain if needed.

Check the thread on safety razors in this forum.

Double Edge razor - the old fashioned (and one of the best) ways to shave.
