Hilux Surf

I have a 100 mile round trip commute every day. its 50/50 back roads / main road. The back roads are battering the car to death, usual neglected by the council stuff. During winter the back roads flood regularly as well, 6-8 inches type stuff.
I was thinking of changing to a surf, getting it in the UK and converting to a commercial. Has anyone any experience of these?
    Something like this

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1996-TOYOTA-HILUX-SURF-TD-AUTO-GREEN_W0QQitemZ170459591444QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAutomobiles_UK?hash=item27b02ef314

I fancy the auto as Im sick of clutching all the time, the back roads are like a rally circuit, continuous bends.
    Cheers,

I have a 96 SSRG for the last five years and will probably hold onto to it for another 5. It hasn't given a problem once, great jeep. Not that many around, only seen 4-5 others down here in Cork in the last 5 years. Mechanically the same as the LC 90 so parts are very easy to find. MPG mixed driving is around 26mpg. Oil change every 5k. The autobox is great. If you do get one, change the radiator immediately, it is 14 years old!! and try and find one with Recaro seats, only in SSRG. I've been told the standard seat can be uncomfortable .....

You would probably find a good one in Ireland, if the vrt has been paid it will save any hassle with revenue when converting it into a commercial. I've left my as a passenger ... The hilux in your link is missing its second battery and you would be better off finding one with a wheel external wheel carrier.

check out www.hiluxsurf.co.uk great for info!

Yea I seen one for sale recently in Cork but it was rough very rough. I got mine for a guy who imported in from Japan directly. Its still drives and feels like a new jeep, only 177km on the clock ......... Top spec is the SSRG (winter spec), all the toys you will ever need!
