Just a quick question about the online retailer: eHobbyAsia. When you go to buy your goods, when using CC/PayPal, does the amount change from Dollars to Euros? Or does it remain the same.

    Ex. $106 = 86 Euro?

    $106 = 106 Euro?

It will be exchanged, paypal will give you the exchange rate and a euro figure at that's point in time

eHobby are an excellent HK retailer, however that gun is shooting @ 350fps & therefore over the legal limit here. Eirsoft are 'partnered' with eHobby and can get it in for you and ensure that it's legal and all ticketyboo!:)

    Hi Delta-boy,

Paypal are quite sneaky... by default they perform the currency conversion and bill you in Euros... but they'll give you a crap rate. There's a little link "other conversion options" when you're paying that allows you to have your credit card perform the currency conversion - so Paypal then bill you in USD and your credit card does the conversion. My experience is that having your credit card do the conversion gets you a better rate.

Dillon is dead right...paypal rip you off with the conversion rate...if you're paying with a credit card, the deal is much better if you let the credit card company do the conversion. I think there was a difference of €12 between paypal's and credit card company on one of my orders.

there are some advantage thought is that you know right away what your paying so sometimes i like it, saved money from getting cc company to do conversion but i;ve also lost stuff at times, swings and round about really

Here's the story my brief relationship with Ehobby.

I ordered a GBB M4 from them about a month ago (the Tuesday before Easter). I received an email the next day telling me that there were restrictions for imports to Ireland. I emailed them back saying that I checked with Irish customs and that the RIF import ban was not yet in place.

I received another email on Wednesday telling me that this was not the restriction they were talking about (not being specific as to what they were referring to). I told them the only other restriction was that the gun must be downgraded to one joule. No reply until the following Thursday as they seem to be closed for 6 days for Easter and 1 day to clear the email jam. They told me I'd have to pay an extra $30 for the downgrade. I told them this was fine and asked how I should pay for it. I never received another email from them.

I emailed them several times since then and received no reply. I lodged a complaint with Paypal and someone replied saying customer services should have given me instructions on how to pay for the downgrade (no s**t). I told the guy handling the Paypal dispute that I never received any instructions and no replies to my emails. I never got a reply from him either. Five days later my money was refunded without a word from Ehobby.

Many people say Ehobby is great etc. but god help you if there's a problem with your order. Their customer service is essentially nonexistent.

Do yourself a favor and just buy from Irish shops. By the time you pay for postage, import duties, service charges from the delivery company, and downgrades you're paying just as much as, if not more than, Irish shops charge.
