November Wedding

Anyone out there opposed to a November wedding?
I know the weather is a factor, but lets face it this is Ireland lads.
Also, the ceremony and meal are all in the one location so there is no moving around - so photos will be indoors......

I'd love a May / July wedding but I don't want to wait until 2011..... and September is quite a busy sports month which doesn't suit us.

Any one gots pros and cons for November?

One con I can think of as this happened me last year:

People who have a fixed number of annual days leave, if you have it on a weekday, you might find that some of your friends or family may not have saved any days holidays. A Saturday wedding would sort this out or alternatively, let people know the date well in advance.

A Pro might be that you may get better availability and prices in hotels as it's the off-season.

i'd go the other way - if people have to take time off in the summer they often have to fit that in with other people at work in order to keep the place going - there is likely to be far less competition for leave in November.

in short, it will be easier for your guests to take time off from work, they will be less likely to have holidays booked that will clash with your wedding, and any hotels they need to stay at will be cheaper than it would be in June/July/August.

    you'll probably be very popular!

Pro, as others have said is hotel availabilty.

con - its relatively close to Christmas so it could be an expensive time for some people. Also, depending on the hotel, it may be the start of their christmas party season in Nov so you may find there is a function of that sort going on, which I wouldn't like.
Depends on the venue really, and if it is accessible/affordable generally for the guests. I know that its not peak season, but if its mid-late Nov prices can go up as well, due to Christmas parties, as I mentioned.

Other than the hotel factors, I can't really see any difference to Nov to any other time of year. Irish weather is unpredictable regardless of the month, and no matter when you pick it will not suit some guests (some will have holidays booked, others will be just back from hols with no annual leave or no money, there will be a family occasion, a pre-existing committment, etc etc etc etc! The issue of Annual leave wouldn't really be a major consideration IMO - our place runs from Apr-Mar for example so Nov makes no difference to me!) If you start worrying about those sorts of things, then your head will be wrecked!

Main considerations are - how close is it to Christmas? Given its a month - 6 weeeks before Christmas, is it relatively affordable for the majority of guests? Is there any other functions going on at the same time/day before/day after that might impact on your day? Are the hotel giving a good deal, and are you happy with the venue?
They are the only real considerations I would be worrying about - anything else is just stress you don't need!
