If you are going to do that you may as well have another two TV's as peripheral screens

No, it's definitely in sync with the action. For example, when he accelerates, it tips back, pushing him back into the seat, mimicking the real-life sensation of accelerating in a car. The opposite occurs when he brakes. It even must be picking up the controller rumble as the rig shudders when he mounts the corner.

Incredibly impressive. Since it's reacting to controller position rather than getting feedback from the console itself, it would probably have to be "tuned" to each specific game for maximum realism, but that would most likely just be software.

They're kinda trial and error, but they deserve recognition for putting it together. There are more videos floating around with there creations, they have definately improved over the last two years. They've a PC version with a flight sim running and it suits alot better. Check out their FB page, they're well in to gaming http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=142329&id=223024853480&saved#!/pages/Retro-Gaming-Magazines/223024853480?ref=ts:) that machine rocks.

I would like to use it for a game like HAWX. Not a driving game as it seems to be OTT.

Its a moto gp game, hence the amount of rocking around is going on. Waste of 9 grand.

Looks like he's flying an F16 rather then a moto GP bike.

My idea was that the excessive movement is to simulate g-forces.

So, you're using gravity to mimic the force you feel when accelerating, or going through corners. As long as you keep your eyes on the screen, it should feel like your accelerating.

It says on the YouTube page it cost them $9000 to build  It'd be great in an arcade/game room, but I don't think many could afford it!

Wipeout HD and that contraption are made for each other.

Agreed, this is exactly what's taking place. You have to remember we're looking at this from an outsiders perspective, the guy in the chair has his eyes glued to the screen - brain trickery.:)
