    great course imho

its tough, there is accuracy required - from what I remember there is no strokesaver so we got badly out of position on a couple of holes if I remember right.

tough holes are 4 (index one) - long off the backs and water in front of a narrow green. 10 is a tough drive without knowing, its a dogleg right to left, you have to take the tight line down the left (you wont know where it lands), if you leak it right you're gone, as both of my angry partners found out!

Yep, a good parkland track. When I played it the greens were heaven. It's a great layout with only one open (slightly dull) stretch near the end. Hope it's in good nick for you. As Johnny said, you might get a bit confused at the layout of some holes - difficult to gauge off the tee. And i your drive is remotely short on the 4th, play it as a lay up par five. There's a vicious ditch in front of the green

    Here are some photos.

only played it once and loved it. All the tough rough was cut back making it a bit easier.

Echo what previous posters have said about the 4th and 10th, two very tough par 4s. Also on the 6th, a long par 5 i suggest hitting a iron or 3 wood off the tee, narrow drive with red stakes both sides of the fairway. the 7th is a tough driving hole also normally plays downwind, perfect line is over the first bunker. On back nine, 12th hole i think index 2, long par 4 with drains running the fairway, has a big tree in middle of fairway try to be slightly right of this off your drive otherwise your shot to the green can be blocked out. A great course, tricky greens to read. played it last weekend and it wasnt in the best conditiion ive seen it, lacking a bit of tlc but still would be better than most just not what i had been used to when playing it.

    Legends, the lot of you!

Here's what I got so far....

4th - If short from tee, lay up. Big ditch in front of green
6th - 3wood/Hybrid off tee - hazard left and right of fairway
7th - Line is over first bunker
10th - Dogleg left - Stay left, don't go right
12th - Keep right of tree from tee- better view of green

    Please feel free to add....

Also, I'll need to print this out to keep from view of the lads on the day.

Place in very good nick at the min. Was there about 2weeks back. Greens lightning quick.

Played it twice last week (coming out of 'retirement'), if you sit on their website you can get green fees before 9 and after 3:50 for €15 the day before (Mon-Fri).
Place is playing well, I need more grass on fairways so I consider some of the holes quite bare in places.
Noone has mentioned the par 3s.
2nd is a deceiving bugger, you can't draw due to a tree and I way overclubbed first time I played it.
Next par 3 is the 9th I think and it's contained within a walled garden, you will enjoy the loud thump when you land your tee shot on the green.
Think the next one is the 11th and again tree on the right and quite long, 200+ I think, lateral water on the LHS.
Think the 16th is the last par 3, quite long at 200+ again, wicked sleeper bunker on the left and green raised so you will need to give your tee shot a fair effort. For some strange reason I was short with a 5w on Sunday and had a beautiful SW into the hole for the bird (lovely grass on the apron).

In general I found the greens receptive with plenty of opportunity to drop and stop and they have a lot of lateral water and out of bounds you need to look out for (think they are there to keep the game going moreso), beware of the pump house should you push your approach to the 13th as it's part of the course so no relief.

Am looking to join a club but this place is on the NAMA so I'm not convinced it will be around so that's putting me off.

I've played it a few times - lovely course. The par 3 in the walled garden is a terrific hole. The 16th is a great par 3 also.

Have to say I thought that hole was a bit gimmicky after all the talk i'd heard about it.

    apologies for the big bump..
Thinking of taking a trip up for the open singles on friday. Never played the course. just wondering if it's worth a three hour round trip. I know it's a fine track, it's just the current condition of the course. Is the place in good nic at the moment?? Any heads up would be greatly appreciated. thanks lads

I played it for the first time last Wednesday and its a savage track in great condition!! Very tricky greens, fast would be and understatement, loads of little hidden breaks but roll very true. Only think is i would go there playing an open in the hope of getting cut!! 0.1 is a very real possibility if you havnt played it before!!
