hi, just looking for some advice on what i can do next!!

ok so i bought something from a seller on e-bay. it takes 2 weeks longer than he said it would to arrive, but no matter. when it arrives, he just threw on 1 layer of bubble wrap so it was kinda grubby and a bit mashed. but when i OPENED the package it didn't look anything like the thumbnail on the item description.

so i contact him saying i'm not happy with it, requesting a refund. he says i have to open a paypal claim as that is the only way i will get me money back [??] which i did. he was extremely extremely rude about it so i left negative feedback. factual, polite feedback but just hit the negative button.

the paypal claim process requires me to return the item to him. i go to the post office, i contact 3 different couriers and all quote me a figure that's higher then i paid for the thing in the first place.

i contact the seller and say look, if i return it and you give me a refund i'll still be out of pocket. he says if i remove the negative feedback and close the paypal case he'll give me a full refund. again - he was rude to the point of aggressive, but i agree to remove the negative feedback and close the paypal case but only after the funds have cleared from paypal into my bank account.

i receive the funds into my paypal account, and send him the confirmation that it will take 2-3 working days for them to clear to my bank account. he sends me a barrage of rude and aggressive messages through e-bay, which i ignore.

then, he opens a case with paypal himself claiming that i refused to send back the item [????] my paypal account is in negative balance.

i reply to him via the paypal claim form stating our agreement. no reply.

then the funds arrive in my bank account, and i close the paypal case against him, as promised i would. i try to send him a message via e-bay but i get a message saying he is no longer a registered user??????

i have also e-mailed him on the hotmail address i have for him, but no reply as yet and as it stands my paypal is still in negative balance and i can't use it till this is sorted. i'm so sorry for taking this long to explain this crap but what do i do????????? i rang paypal and they were as useful as an ashtry on a motorbike - their answer was for me to look at their FAQ [????]

if uv already got the refund then u can post the item back ,u have nothing further to lose at this point
u can send item with cheapest service and he can do nothing even if it doesnt arrive
    esp if hes NARU now

you could even post it back without paying postage and he will have to pay at the other end if he wants the item (bit cheeky though )

Forget it, move on. It could just be that this seller was selling dodgy stuff anyway and sent stuff out late just to keep his account open to draw more people in, when he finally hit an expected negative he knew more were just around the corner so closed up shop. Keep an eye out for the same stuff being sold with the same format on the listing to see if he starts up again.

OP, as a matter of interest what sort of feedback did the seller have?

thanks for the replies so far!!

i see what yer saying about posting the item back - but thing is i would be losing out - i would be spending MORE on returning the item than the refund.... i ain't prepared to be out of pocket by ONE CENT on this.:(

i see what yer saying about moving on too - nothing i'd like to do more!!:pac: but as it is my paypal account is in negative balance - if i rectify that i'm still out of pocket!!!

the seller had 98.9% positive feedback. i know i know - i would never and have never before bought anything from anyone with less than 100% feedback, but all the other people who bought this particular item were happy with it so i went ahead. besides, it was a present and the date for giving said present was looming near...

loads of good sellers dont have 100%
its damn near impossible to keep 100% if ur selling any kind of volume per week

Sorry but from your original post I thought you had got the money back? Can you explain that a bit more?

yes, i have gotten my money back. the seller agreed to refund me and let me keep the [useless] item if i removed my negative feedback and close the paypal case i had openend. i only openend it because he said that was the only way i would get my money back, and only agreed to close it once the refund had cleared onto my back account. he agreed to this.

i have now closed the paypal case, removed the negative feedback so my part of the bargain is done and dusted.

my issue is that HE has now opened a paypal case claiming that i never returned the item and he wants his money back. as a result my paypal shows a negative balance, and i cannot use it until he closes the case. i have other things to do with my paypal account but cannot until this is sorted. why should i pay him? why should i be out of pocket for him selling useless crap that bears no relation to the item description?

i cannot get a hold of him as he seems to have dropped off the face of the planet.

I coun't that as not having your money back ;)

I'd call PayPal again, if they'll do nothing just try another rep.

Certainly wouldn't send anything back to a NLRU!

you should have left the negative feedback there and also kept open your paypal case until you were refunded fully

youve just given away anything you had to bargaain with, its in thye hands of the gods now whether you get anything back at all
