The BBC are reporting that Zarkava is in foal to Sea The Stars. Odds of 4/1 for the offspring being a classic winner in 2014 and 100/1 an Arc winner the same year.

Note: doing this from my mobile, so if you want links, check bbc site or racingpost :)

Think ladbrokes have already cut it to 50/1 I read

Perhaps the stupidest odds I've ever heard apart from Sky Bet 10/1 Finians Rainbow to win a Cheltenham Gold Cup (Few months ago I think)

Agreed. There's no guarantee that such a pairing will produce a classic winner.

I've seen evidence that a good-looking couple can produce ugly kids ;)

I think its 4/1 for sea the stars to sire any classic winner in 2014. As in its not just the offspring with Zarkava. Anyhow its still an bad bet. I think it may only include UK classics aswell??!

Another bad promo bet by ladbrokes was even money for Big Bucks to win the world hurdle by 5 lenghts! Saw them advertising this the morning of the race on the C4 morning line! That was a disgraceful price! I was in boylesports 2hours later and they had him 2/1 to win by 4lenghts.
Not that that was a good price either! Sure he touched even money to win the race before the off!!

It's amazing how the bookies throw a price up for something and people blindly go for it. I mean, they put up really really insulting odds for things and they must piss themselves when it get a nibble. Some people might like to say -

"I bet that horse would win a classic before it was born"

Which would be a nice thing to be able to say, but it burning money.

Only resonable way to justify it is as a total novelty bet

That bet was for Punchestowns not Finians Rainbow. Still a bad price but a big difference in horses.

The Ladbrokes promo was Big Bucks 4/6 but you got paid at evens if he won by 5l+. They did something similar for Kauto 5/6 to win but you got paid 6/5 in he won by the distances.

Sorry but your wrong, It was a seperate bet for big bucks to win by 5 lengths at even money. John McCrirrick was even having a go at the ladbrokes bookie describing it as a silly bet when you can take 4/6 for an outright win. You could tell that the bookie for ladbrokes knew it was robbery but was trying to justify it by saying thats what people wanted and that they'd had plenty of takers!

Incorrect. The bet was a special and was as I described it originally.

Whatever about Punchestowns, what I said is true.

Apologies, you are indeed correct. I was thinking of Stan James and their 10/1 Punchestowns. I'm in shock at Skybet - what a ridiculous offer.

I am certain I saw that ladbrokes bet as I described. Others will confirm what they saw on the thursday morning line on channel 4.

But yeh, that finians rainbow bet is ludacris!

I had a google there and I see the offer you were on about at ladbrokes Indian Spring. What I was saying was their offer early in the morning. They must have realised it was bad PR and saw boylesports and the likes were going 2/1 to win by 4 lengths! They also had to change it as a result of big bucks drifting to even money!
