I'm sorry, didn't know which section to post this in but as it's quite active i'll try my luck
Heavyballs went a bit astray over the week-end,cut a long story short, ended up going to a house party somewhere in Rathfarnam.Left my jacket behind with wedding ring in it,have no way of contacting house owner and was too drunk to remember wher i was
Got a lift to and from house so no taxi records or anything
1 thing i remember is the estate had a red brick arc entrance and was not near Rathfarnam village, more on the way to Firhouse,
have been on google earth and have driven around but no joy,
could it have been Woodside Village in Firhouse
    please help,heavyballs in deep **** here people.Ta

Go to a local Taxi company in Rathfarnam and say what you said here.

They should recognize the estate description.

Can you remember anything else at all? Im from the area but not sure. Do you mean Woodstown in Firhouse? And when you say red brick arc, do you mean it was an arch you drive under, or a curved wall that looks like an arc when looking at it on google earth?

    Prospect Manor?
It's up off Scholarstown Road, could possibly be where your looking for.

Cut your wedding ring finger off and tell her you lost it and the ring in an unfortunate smelting accident. Problem solved.

A mate sitting next to me says the estate could be Hermitage

Don't phone them, they'll just fob you off.

I'd say walk up to where the taxi guys to be waiting in a queue for a fare there in Rathfarnam village.

Get chatting to a few of them and one of them should recognize the description.

I have a feeling I know where it is. It's completely away from Firhouse though. I can't figure out how to use Google maps but it's at the end of Dodder Park Road. The place is called Woodside and it has an arch at the entrance. Not redbrick though. Then there's another huge arch opposite it.

Could very well be but the OP better hope it isnt, thats a fairly fooking big estate to go door to door in

Could it be Dodder Valley on the Firhouse Road?

if woodside is ringing a bell for you, there is a woodsie on dodder park road, red brick houses

it was a proper arch,i remember we drove under it,also i wouldn't say the house was overly expensive, semi d,kinda barren looking area out the back window, house i would say at least 10/15 years old

    Hermitage doesn't have an arch.
But The Priory beside it does.

But they're very fcukin expensive houses though-i see OP just said they weren't.

EDIT:Actually i think the arch in The Priory is walk under. However, there's an estate beside that again,on Park Avenue, where you drive under an arc. there's waste land beside it too.. Can't for the life of me think of the name of the actual estate though

can't remember driving in,remember driving out a bit,was a big estate, house was at the back of it and could see no other houses from back window

Your wedding ring was in your jacket pocket? Oh dear, lots of explaining to do there :)

There's no Woodside village in Firhouse. There's a Woodstown village in Firhouse/Knocklyon....

Anything else you remember? Was it mostly detached redbrick houses, or mostly terraced or apartments, etc?

The description could be anything of a number of estates. I immediately thought of Charleville beside Rathfarnham shopping centre.

    Rathfarnham Wood
    Woodlawn

Are you certain it actually was Rathfarnham? And not somewhere round it like Firhouse/Ballycullen/Ballinteer etc etc.

looking on google i thought it could have been woodstown village but i don't know if there's an arch there, that would be as far outside of rathfarnam, people we went back said they lived in rathfarnam,i remember driving back along the newish road up there it only took about 5-10 mins to pass the grange golf club,it was on my right

Hmm. You could've ended up anywhere to be honest! Try the estate in behind The Eden pub. There's Marley as well-opposite the park. There is a Marley Wood up that way, don't think it has an arch.

You remember wood....was it Tiger Woods? He cheated on his wife too.

Do you see what cheating on your wife has reduced you to?
