Does anyone know where to buy glasses frames online please? I have seen some websites, but it's my first time buying glasses frames online, so therefore I have no idea which webistes are best to use.

I need full rims as my prescription is +7.50.

I do not want to buy lenses, just frames.

There's a place on ebay sell the ex display frames, not a mark on them, if there is they'll tell you.

Topspecs or something like that is the name of it. I've gotten a pair of Jasper Conranframes off it £4.99 including delivery, Raplh Polo Lauren frames £15.20 including delivery. Almost all bidding starts at £4.99 so you get absolute bargains. There is another one on it that's based in Cyprus I got my D&G frames for €58, I saved almost €200 on them & I knew they were the frames I wanted & searched all over for them, couldn't believe my luck to get them at such a bargain price!! Highly recommend the topspecs ones they only ever list the designer ones & they're usually all from the 2009 or 2010 range & serious savings & the seller Rita is a pleasure to deal with, no waiting ages for replies or to get your purchase shipped!

I hate to buy frame online, because that quite difference of looking when I wearing it.

Be very careful buying frames online, looking at your prescripton you would be crazy to get frames online. A +7.50 will have a very thick centre thickness and I can't emphasise enough the importance of getting a professional to choose your frame with that prescripton.


I'll try to explain this as simple as I can, you will have a measurement taking in an Opticians called a PD(Pupil Distance) This is the distance between your pupils.

If you look at a pair of new frames you will find two numbers beside each other, often look like this 48x18, these could be on the bridge or most commonly the tips. The 48 is the eyesize and the 18 is the bridge width.

Now when you add these together you get the Frame PD which here is 66.

Now here is the important bit, for a prescripton of your size, your own PD measurement should be no more than 3 away from the frame PD in my opinion. What this means without going into too much detail is that if these two numbers are nearly the same then the smallest diameter lens can be ordered for your frame and the smaller the diameter the thinner the lens.

I won't explain the Maths but I'll give you two examples,
Take a guess that your PD is 60
1.....You buy a pair of frames online with measurements reading 50x20, the smallest possible diameter lens who will get into this frames is 63mm which with a +7.50 prescripton will be huge unless your willing to fork out for a thinned down lens,even then you'll have to go for near enough top of the range to get them neat.


2....You buy a frame online with measurements 44x20, the smallest possible diameter lens would be a 51mm, I can't explain how much better these lenses would look compared to the original example. This is even without paying to get them thinned down. If you did pay to get these thinned, they could turn out extremely thin.

Another thing is that having frames that can be adjusted easily is essential especially for a prescripton like your own, the frames might not fit you behind the ears and it could be a frame type that can't be adjusted.


I know its a lot to take in but if you read the post carefully you'll understand what I'm trying to get across(I hope:D)

As I stated in the PM, I hadn't thought of it the way you exlpain it (because of what my optician said), but reading your post, I don't think I will buy the frames online as I don't want to run the risk of buying frames online and taking a chance of my optician ruining them.

A mate in the UK was just telling me about this website which sells them, meant to save a lot of money. You send them in your prescription and they send out the glasses, you send them back if don’t like them.
