upgrading to iphone with o2 then unlock ?

    hey so my dad is happy with the phone he has at the minute

    he is due an upgrade and can get the iphone....

    can he upgrade to it and give it to me to use on meteor ?

    how long will he have to wait before he can request to have it unlocked ?

    i dont know if they would unlock it straight away, suppose best thing to do is ask them

    If it's a bill pay phone he can request to unlock it straight away.

    On his billpay phone overall or just once he changes to the iphone? I thought that the 150 spend was only for prepay phones?

    he will have to change his priceplan to one of the advance plans that include data, so in essence if he upgrades and gives you the phone he's paying for an iphone priceplan without the benefits.

    make sure he's happy with that.

    Stand open to correction but I think O2 will only unlock the iPhone once your contract has been completed.

    Also bear in mind that your dad will be stuck on an iPhone tariff for 18 months. The iPhone tariff might not be the best tariff* for him to be on using a "normal" phone, i.e. an equivalent priced tariff might give him more minutes & less data.

    *(I know some would argue that iPhone tariffs are too expensive anyway)

    yeah waht everyone else says, the iPhone plan is ridiculous compared to other plans, let him know that before he upgrade, cause he is then tied to an 18 month contract, and trust me, that aint fun, i'm half way through mine and its a bloody nightmare, can't wait till its fiished.

    also then in regards to yourself gettig the iPhone and using your meteor sim, you would need to get yourself some sort of data bundle added, cause the iPhone craves constant internet access, your credit would eat away.

    and yes, i am also getting mine unlocked by o2 and im 9 months into it.
