Folk/Acoustic act Longtails

This is a long ad so bare with it. I thought better to be precise with what I am looking for.

I am looking to meet some likeminded people to play music with. I write original songs, but also enjoy playing some cover stuff (but not looking to form a covers band).

I sing and play acoustic guitar and mandolin. I work 9-5 (to pay for my music habit) and I am very committed to being creative and I am looking for similar souls.

I live northside Dublin but can and will travel for rehersals/gigs.

I'm looking for a lead guitar player (banjo/mandolin ability a bonus), percussionist and violin or cello player. I have alot of songs written and would like the help of other musicians to put their spin on these songs aswell as creating others. Backing vocals is desireable. I dont necessarily need to find all the above so do get in touch if you like what you read/hear. The songs I write are very lyric based. I will be recording again this year.

Some music I like:
Planxty, Stone Roses, Bothy Band, Neil Young, Pink Floyd, Luke Kelly, Waterboys, The Band, Dylan, Jamie T, Bob Marley and the Wailers, Damien Dempsey, The Cure, Fleet Foxes, Cut Copy, Jape, Blur, Beatles, Stones, Fionn Regan.

Being good at music is all well and good but if people cant get along or have very little in common its all a bit pointless being in a band as the band wont be creative in my opinion.

Some stuff I like to do:
Go to gigs and festivals (alot), watch football matches on the telly in pubs, drink pints of guinness while doing the latter, climb hills in wicklow, listen to new music, watch docus on bbc about the universe, have a laugh and bit of craic with people.

That's a lot heavier than your stuff, but I like playing all sorts. I have about 10 songs written myself. I would like to play my own songs too in future so you'd have to be open to doing the odd heavier track I suppose but I'd like to audition some weekend after next if poss. Cheers anyway.

Sorry it didn't work out with me. I actually never moved to Dublin in the end at all so it would never have gotten off the ground unfortunately. Best of luck with the search though!

Hi Paul,

Listening to your MySpace now, Mathematic Formula, very nice. I'd love to meet up and play some tunes if you were up for it, check out my Dead Zoo post and see what you think. I'm into a lot of your music although I'd say I write slightly "darker" stuff if that makes sense. I play guitar and double bass, and I'm based in Ranelagh.
