Keppra side effects

My mother had been suffering with back pain and chronic leg cramps for about a year. Her doctor put her on amitriptyline, I understand it to be an old type of anti-depressant that is used for chronic pain. These helped but after two weeks of taking them she had a couple of seizures. She was taken into hospital and was told to stop the amitriptyline. The doctors then put her on low dosage of Keppra, an epilepsy medication along with iron tablets. She has been taking Keppra for about three months and although it is helping with the pain she has lost her appetite, doesn't feel like eating and suffers from diarrhoea. Is there anything she can do? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

If she's not really eating and has regular diarrhoea then she needs to go back to her doctor - even to check her vitals are all ok.
