Right so im under 23 but not living off my parents at all, why can i not get a grant? It is ridicilous that my parents are expected to pay for me to go back to college after thay have already paid for other courses that i have done which add up to alot. the course i am looking at is 6000 per yr for 4 yrs, there is no way on this earth i can afford that. I also have a long term illness that i thought I would be able to get a bit of help with but my illness isnt recognised properly in ireland apparently so no joy there either. I just dont understand.

If the course you want to do is in a Privet College then your never going to get a grant .
You should check that out ,
Also 6000 per year sounds like what my Bfs dad pays in a masters degree , the grants do not cover them either ,usually part paid for by an employment .

if your 23 you can apply for back to education and mature student ..
If you have not been out of education , like me 22 . Then you don't quallify for back to education allowance ,
Another thing is if they are means testing your parents income , their income combined with yours for the year needs to be under 45,000.

your illness mite still qualify for a disability allowance, that would be from the social welfare or the college disability service .
