    Hey all,

I'm having an issue with a video file on my desktop. In short; I can't delete it. It's wrecking my head!

I've got Vista and I've had this issue before with some other files where they wouldn't delete. However, a quick restart of the computer and they'd either be gone or willing to let me delete them.

So I tried restarting and it's not working. The file won't budge. Everytime I try to put it into a folder or delete it, i get a mesage saying windows explorer has stopped working.

It's a 3GP file if that makes any difference. I'm currently transferring files onto an external drive to go for a complete reformat, but obviously I'd rather not have to do that.

    Anyoen got any ideas?

    Cheers :)

You could try installing this. Helps with any stubborn files, http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/. If that doesn't work try Eraser.

    No joy.

Can't even find Safe Mode, if I'm being honest. Can find it on my VAIO Laptop, but not on this  (using a HP dekstop).

Fcuk it... I'm reformatting. I've nothing better to do with my day anyway.

That is one of the most extreme solutions to a fairly small problem I've ever seen, but I salute your gusto, sir ;)

I've found, in a lot of cases a quick reformat is alot quicker and easier then spending hours trying to troubleshoot the problem.

Not wanting to go off topic here, but why do people use the term reformat?

    Surely it's just format?

The drive has to have been formatted at some stage previously so it's reformatting in that sense. It's not very logical, admittedly; it would make more sense if you formatted, screwed up something immediately and formatted again.
