I am on casual work JSA. I receive a cheque every Tuesday.

I moved house 2 weeks ago I informed the social and provided proof that was grand.

My next cheque never came, not to new or old house. I went in and inquired and they told me to come back Monday week and then they could cancel the cheque.

I went in yesterday (mon week) and I was asked did i not fill in the form? I said no I wasn't informed there was a form?? So i filled out this form declaring I never got the cheque and if i did receive it in the mean time I'd have to return it. Grand.

Has any1 had to fill out this form?? If so how long did it take for you to receive the misplaced cheque?

    Hope this all makes sense!!!
    Thanks in advance

The form you filled out was an indemnity form, declaring that you had not received your cheque. The details are sent to Accounts section who check that your cheque has not been cashed. This normally takes 3 working days, and then the cheque can be re-issued.

There are currently some delays with cheques being issued, what with the St Patrick's day bank holiday, and I have heard that with the industrial action some cheques are being issued a day or so later than usual. Cheque payments for casual workers issue on Friday evenings, so you should expect to have them delivered by post by the following Tues/Weds.

I've live at the same address for years and some weeks the JB (Casual) cheque doesn;t arrive.

I visit the local SW office and give them a copy of my yellow docket, and next week a cheque for twice the amount arrives. They never admit to losing my actual docket. But then again they don't "talk" its all very rushed and next, next, next

Could it be a policy to randomly cut people off and hope they don't complain?

    Op here

Today I received a letter from Social Welfare asking me to go into office re: missing cheque and bring the letter with me.

I've already been in twice and I though it was sorted... Anyone know what's going on?

Strange. Hard to say what's going on until you go into the office, but..... from experience it could be that your cheque has indeed being cashed, and they may have requested a copy and want to check signatures or verify that the correct cheque was cancelled.

But, it's nothing to be worried about - at least your issue is being sorted!:)
