iphone on upgrade

    sorry for the stupid questions in advance!

    my mother is due an upgrade but already has a spare phone and is perfectly happy with her N73. she is going to get the iphone with her upgrade and give it to me. she wants a new price plan and would be happy to get the €60 a month for 300 minutes and 300 texts.

    can i just jailbreak this iphone and then unlock it and use it on my meteor sim while she continues to use her N73 with the new price plan or is there something i'm missing? sorry again for the stupid question.

    Yes your Mam can continue to use the N73 while you use the iPhone however you can't currently jailbreak and unlock iPhones bought in the shops. So you'd have to wait for a jailbreak solution to be released.

    Ah right ok thanks so the iphone we get for the upgrade will have the latest software which can't be jailbroken?

    Yep its vodafone and the its the 300 mins and 300 texts and then you get the iphone free.

    Sorry mate ur wrong about that. NOt all iphones bhought in the 02 shop are on up to date firmware, i got my iphone 3gs 16gb 2 weeks ago and it was still on 3.1.2 which i was able to jailbreak and unlock in 2 minutes wit the kind help of youtube! ha

    Hav it workin on meteor now for me :)

    ill be getting it from vodafone, they will all probably be up to date for the launch? hope its on 3.1.2 though!

    I dunno if its hard to do wit the iphone but when i got my itouch last year i needed to downgrade it to jailbreak it.
    Found the firmware online downloaded it and downgraded it tat way.

    I persume its possible to do the same for iphones.

    wont work anymore, apple wont sign 3.1.2 anymore

    Mate, the OP is getting it from Vodafone and has already highlighted that fact by the price plan they plan to choose. IIRC Vodafone are shipping with the new firmware, which cannot be downgraded and unlocked.

    is there anyway to unlock the ones with the new firmware and will there be soon do you reckon
