sorry if this has been covered before.

Is there a spot for park/shower and maybe some food in the city centre?

I overheard 2 guys talking yesterday about a spot near jervis st but google didn't throw anything up.

If I've sweated a lot on the commute I usually check into the Weston Hotel on College Green to freshen up.

For the more budget-minded cyclist, there's always this:

Jesus, is that not very very expensive?

I think you can get a shower and a locker in the Marsckiev gym for about €2.

In fairness if you are negotiating a multi-million euro contract you don't want to end up arriving like a sweaty pig. You have to spend money to make money after all.

I guess it is when you think about it. I usually just say "What the hell, I'm worth it". The towels are wonderfully soft.

The buildabike last is on Tom Dunne at the moment. Also got a good mentioned in yesterdays Sunday Times.

I'm not sure if this is too far back to be bumping up but I'm also wondering about locker & shower facilities (I'm up around Merchants Quay). Doesn't look like buildabike offer this anymore (from their website, going to drop them an email to enquire).

In the end, i just used cubicles in toilet in company. had shower before left, got off bike, dried off excess sweat, had a pack of baby wipes always with me which was quite refreshing. seemed to do the trick. once I got into the routine I was happy enough with it. Never push the cycle inbound too much to reduce the body working into a sweat.

A dry bag, and good gear for cycling in the rain is essential.

changed workplace since and shower in the new place most mornings. :)

I struggle to hold back on the cycle in :) So far I've managed quite well (no complaints from colleagues) with a similar approach but I'd be happier to get a shower in after the cycle. Thanks for the quick update

Ken Kifer's advice is practical enough:
First, always take a shower before leaving the house using an anti-bacterial soap. Second, avoid cotton clothing, which hold odors. Third, if you have a private office, carry clothing to your office, and arrive early and change. Fourth, if you can't change, when you arrive, use a damp paper towel to remove sweat and help you cool down. Fifth, arrive early and stay away from other people until your temperature has dropped.

That's largely what I follow currently. I'd just love the comfort of a shower after the cycle. Had that when I was commuting in Galway, don't have it where I work now and missing it.
